The "Is This Change?" whinefest

It's almost a month since the country has elected Barack Obama into office and some people, mainly on the left, have already become unhappy with him.

The main reason for their anger at Obama has to do with the selection of his Cabinet so far, particularly the selection of Hillary Clinton to be Secretary of State. The main complaint is that Obama promised 'change' and that meant completely new faces to Washington, but so far there have been many Bill Clinton Administration holdovers named so far. They are saying that what we are getting so far is a Clinton third term presidency. I have a few points I want to make to them, & here they are:

1.) What was the last successful Democratic Presidency? The Clinton presidency. Why shouldn't Obama pick people from that era? You want him to pick from the Carter team?

Take Eric Holder for example. He was deputy Attorney General under Clinton, so he already knows how the day-to-day operations go at the DoJ.

2.) LET THE PRIMARIES GO!! I know there has been a lot of emotion invested in the quest for the Democratic nomination, but we can't hold bitter grudges like that for long, especially when the plans presented by both Obama & Clinton in the campaign were almost identical.

3.) You wouldn't be happy either way. If Obama picked fresh new people to help him run the country when the economy is in the tank, we are involved in two wars, and one of the biggest parts of American industry possibly going bankrupt, most of the same people that are complaining now about his Cabinet selections would still complain. They would say "How can Obama appoint this person when we are doing do bad?"

Finally, the people that voted for Obama (like me) need to understand that unlike the current occupant in the White House who let his supposed subordinates run the country based on ideology, Obama will have the final say when it comes to desicions. We trust him enough to have him elected, so we should trust him with his cabinet pics.
